The filming for The Boys Season 5 is well underway, and it looks like another member of the main cast has returned to film their part. The actor is none other than Karl Urban, who is returning as Billy Butcher, the leader of the vigilante group trying to bring down Vought, the corporation controlling everything in the universe of The Boys.
The previous season ended in favor of Homelander as he is the de facto ruler of the US, even if Steven Calhoun is formally the president. The mid-credits scene of the season four finale shows Homelander being taken to Soldier Boy's confinement by Calhoun, confirming Soldier Boy's involvement in The Boys Season 5.

Prime Video's The Boys is an effective political satire that mirrors the real world but with super"heroes." It is different from other superhero universes because, unlike the Marvel and DC Universes, The Boys doesn't cater to people of all ages. It is relentlessly dark and is appropriate for adults only.
What will The Boys Season 5 be about?
The Boys Season 5 will pick up from where Gen V Season 2 will conclude. Set to be released sometime in 2026, our heroes will have to confront a dark world out to hunt them as Homelander and the rest of Vought are on their tail.
Moreover, even the titular Boys are fractured. Karl Urban's Billy Butcher has a virus that will kill all the super-powered individuals, and he is on his own way. And Frenchie is under Cate Dunlap's mind control. Meanwhile, the other members of the vigilante group are all imprisoned after being captured by Vought's forces.
What happens in Gen V Season 2 will directly impact the fifth season. While the new season of Gen V is currently filming, it is expected to be released during the second half of this year. So, it is safe to assume that Gen V's second season will wrap production up soon. It is also possible that the current season of Gen V unfold simultaneously with The Boys Season 4.
