The Rookie Season 7's latest episode might have just provided a loophole for serial killer Liam Glasser (Seth Gabel) to get all his crimes absolved and get out of jail for good.
Talking about this latest plot twist and if Liam would be back in the remainder of Season 7, showrunner Alexi Hawley told ScreenRant:
''I think that's a really fun idea. I guess to be a little spoilerly, it's not a season 7 story''
While Hawley suggested that Liam would not return in Season 7, this is surely not the last that we have seen of the serial killer as The Rookie showrunner added:
''I do think it's very much in my head for season 8 as to something.''
ABC's procedural has always seen a way to bring back its antagonists. Earlier in The Rookie Season 7, Oscar and Jason's escape created enough problems for Nolan and Bailey, with Bailey even helping a hitman, Malvado, take her ex-husband down.
And more recently, Season 7 also saw the return of Malvado himself, which was a turning point for Bailey as her secret was threatened. However, nothing of the sort happened and before Malvado could have used Bailey as leverage, he was shot by Angela.

The Rookie showrunner teases serial killer Liam Glasser's return in Season 8
While The Rookie has featured many dangerous serial killers throughout its seven seasons, Liam Glasser's latest introduction has had a significant impact on the show.
Since every police procedural needs a much dangerous antagonist, Liam Glasser's introduction served that purpose. In Episode 4, while Liam seems to be a normal family man, Nyla is convinced that he is the second serial killer LAPD is looking for.
While Nolan, Nyla, Angela and Miles catch Liam before he can do further harm, the latest twist in Episode 15 suggests that the killer might soon be out. In the latest episode of The Rookie, Liam claims that drugs found in Lakeview can absolve him of his crimes and Hawley's comments suggest that the killer might be back in Season 8.
Teasing Liam's return, Hawley further added to ScreenRant:
''He's [Seth] such a phenomenal actor, and it's a great character, and I think we've shown we have a history of falling in love with actors and characters and trying to figure out ways to bring them back. I think that the nut to crack is how to make it a dynamic and dramatic storyline if we go down that road.''
If Liam were to return in Season 8, Nyla would surely be his first target as she helped him put behind bars.
