“Not based on my life”: Richard Gadd reveals how his next show, Half Man, will differ from Baby Reindeer

During a press conference at the Spirit Awards, Richard Gadd talked about Half Man and described the series as a departure from his previous semi-autobiographical works. The creator of Netflix's acclaimed miniseries said:

"Gonna do a musical. [Laughs] No, I'm actually working on the next thing. It's a BBC HBO show called Half Man. I'm doing it right now and yeah, it's a departure from the kind of autobiographical semi-autobiographical stuff that I've done before, but it's still dark."

He added:

"It's still probably totally what you'd expect from me, but it's definitely different in subject matter and, of course, it's not based on my life at all, so hopefully it'll be a healthy thing to do."

Unlike Baby Reindeer, Gadd's upcoming show for HBO and BBC isn't based on his life while fans can expect the iconic dark tone of the miniseries. The actor and comedian also hinted at a healthier creative process for Half Man.
