Shark Tank star Mark Cuban talks about the current VR technology
Mark was recently invited by Jules Terpak on her podcast to throw light on the state of tech industry today in the country. During the 2+ hours-long conversation, the two were talking about how people are reacting to new hardware introduced in the market and whether are people still sharing the same hesitation they did a few years ago.
This is when Shark Tank OG Mark shared his opinion on the current state of VR technology,
"Go back to meta stuff on the VR goggles, like I'm actively involved. Like I created this thing for VR that works on vestibular problems that I had right... so... but anyways so I've actively involved in VR and meta all that kind of stuff what's missing is there is no daily application for VR/ There's no reason like you get all wild. It's like going to an amusement park. You know, hey I'm in space. Hey I'm on a roller coaster, hey in this world or that world but you only go to amusement park once maybe twice a year if you're hardcore. There's just no repetitive application for it except for some basic training applications in business.
"Yeah! It's just... it's a matter like all technology across all these years is just a simple question that needs to be answered. Is it the path of least resistance to accomplish something. That's it. It's a yes or no and so you know it's like those kids that wrote the software that did does the facial recognition they emailed me you talk about getting email. I've been going back and forth with them a lot and you know that's a privacy issue that has other concerns," he continues.
The Shark Tank investor further talked about the concern around this technology.
"It's an application that at some point it always starts off oh it freaks people out and then it gets normalized and those things those applications will get normalized but is it the path of resist least resistance to accomplish something and the answer is always binary it's either it's yes or no and that's the problem with VR."
