Apple TV+’s Prime Target season 1 aired its eighth and final episode on March 5, 2025. The show has achieved a dedicated fan following with its thrilling narrative, which revolves around a genius mathematician, Edward Brooks, played by Leo Woodall.

Edward gets into a cat-and-mouse game with an unseen enemy as he tries to find a pattern in prime numbers for a major breakthrough. The first season ends with some questions left unanswered, building hopes for a future installment.

However, series creator Steve Thompson has shared a disappointing update about the potential Prime Target season 2. In an interview with Deadline, Thompson said as of now, there is no assurance about the show getting another season, though he would like to continue it:

“I’d love to think there would be one, but there are no assurances at this stage.”

Steve Thompson added that the renewal of Prime Target season 2 will largely depend on the audience’s response to the first chapter. He also revealed he did leave scope for the story to be explored further as Edward gets immense power by the end of season 1:

“We’ll see what happens with the response and see where it goes from here. Edward is now a rogue force. He has an extraordinary power and he’s out there in the world. So we teed it up and we’ll see what happens. We see him utilize it with his phone.”

Thompson’s comments hint that there might not be any discussions going on between him and Apple TV+ for Prime Target’s renewal as of now. However, it can change in the future if the streaming platform finds the viewership ratings good enough to continue the thriller series.

The show tells the story of Edward Brooks, a post-graduate mathematician, who is working hard to find a pattern in prime numbers, which could help him in getting access to all the computers in the world. Meanwhile, he is under the watch of an NSA agent, and a mysterious enemy is trying to destroy his work for unknown reasons.

The show stars Leo Woodall as Edward Brooks and Quintessa Swindell as NSA agent Taylah Sanders. They are joined by David Morrissey as Professor Robert Mallinder, Fra Fee as Adam Mellor, Sidse Babett Knudsen as Professor Andrea Lavin, Stephen Rea as Professor James Alderman, and Jason Flemyng as Stephen Patrick Nield.

All episodes of Prime Target season 1 are available to stream on Prime Video.
