Nickelodeon is reactivating the Hollywood Arts world with a new Victorious spin-off series, following Trina Vega, who will be played by Daniella Monet. The series is called Hollywood Arts and has Trina becoming a teacher at the famous performing arts high school, where she first started as a student.
This new chapter is supposed to bring the spirit of the original while offering more novel stories and faces. This spin-off is currently in "fast-track development" with Nickelodeon, meaning a return to such humor and heart that made Victorious appealing. Served as an executive producer along with Monet, this series promises to bring back the old, updated take on a beloved universe.
Plot and production
The Hollywood Arts series revolves around Trina Vega's comeback to work at Hollywood Arts High School as a teacher. Not only is Daniella Monet reprising but also executive producing. Samantha Martin and Jake Farrow, the writers who worked on Victorious and its first spinoff, Sam & Cat, are attached to the show.
Victorious follows the teenage students of a performing arts school as they navigate their artistic dreams and personal lives This new series would aim to capture the same spirit, with Trina playing a new role: educator. The series is being written and executive produced by Victorious's Jake Farrow and The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder's Samantha Martin.
Cast and cameo potentials from the Victorious cast
Daniella Monet has been confirmed to reprise her role as Trina Vega. Other casting details are yet to be confirmed, but some of the original stars might make a cameo appearance, including Victoria Justice and Avan Jogia. Avan Jogia posted on Instagram to wish Daniella Monet well, which shows that the former cast members are good friends.
The original Victorious cast included Victoria Justice, Ariana Grande, Elizabeth Gillies, Leon Thomas III, Avan Jogia, and Matt Bennett. Ariana Grande reprised her role as Cat Valentine in the Victorious and iCarly spin-off Sam & Cat.
Sam & Cat included guest appearances from Victorious actors, Matt Bennett and Elizabeth Gillies, making it possible for other characters to return in potential future episodes.
Dan Schneider not involved
The creator of Victorious, Dan Schneider, will not be involved in the spin-off series, Hollywood Arts. Schneider left Nickelodeon in 2018, and his previous workplace environment has been put under the spotlight. Investigation Discovery aired a documentary series, Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, that delved into the atmosphere of Schneider's shows.
Schneider has since responded to these allegations, first by apologizing and then by filing a defamation lawsuit against the producers of Quiet on Set. The new series will be produced by a fresh creative team, ensuring a different approach to the Victorious legacy.
In a nutshell, Nickelodeon is working on Hollywood Arts, which takes place with Danielle Monet portraying Trina Vega. It will be focusing primarily on Trina's return as a teacher of Hollywood Arts High School, alongside possible cameos from the other original cast.
