Netflix has officially revealed the release dates and first trailer for Wednesday Season 2. The new season will be split into two parts, with the first arriving on August 6, 2025, and the second on September 3, 2025.
The show picks up where Season 1 left off, following Wednesday's return to Nevermore Academy. The teaser trailer sets the tone for the rest of the show as Morticia Gomez points out,
"This is the first time you’ve ever willingly returned to a school. How does it feel?"
Wednesday gives a metaphorical reply,
"Like returning to the scene of the crime. I already know where the bodies are buried."
The teaser trailer opens with a humorous airport scene where Wednesday is seen carrying an odd collection of weapons. A haunting rendition of “My Favorite Things” plays in the background, adding to the mysterious nature of this fictional world. It quickly shifts back to the eerie school setting, hinting at yet another eventful school year.
What to expect from Wednesday Season 2?
Wednesday season one ended with Wednesday solving the Hyde mystery, defeating Ms. Thornhill, and receiving a mysterious threat via text, hinting that her troubles at Nevermore Academy were far from over. Wednesday Season 2 starts with the new school year and brings more focus on the Addams family.
Wednesday’s parents, Morticia and Gomez, will appear more often, along with her younger brother, Pugsley, who now has powers of his own, including the ability to control lightning. Wednesday’s Grandmama (played by Hester Frump) will be making her debut in Wednesday Season 2.
The cast of Wednesday Season 2 is packed with familiar and new faces. Jenna Ortega returns as Wednesday, along with Emma Myers as Enid, Hunter Doohan as Tyler, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, and Joy Sunday as Bianca. We’ll also see Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene, and Georgie Farmer as Ajax.
New characters are also joining the show. Steve Buscemi will play Principal Barry Dort, a mysterious teacher at Nevermore. Billie Piper and Thandiwe Newton are also entering the story as new staff members. Lady Gaga is confirmed to make a special guest appearance, though her role is yet to be revealed.
Tim Burton is once again directing the series along with Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson. Burton is also producing the series, and Jenna Ortega will be joining as executive producer this season.
The first episode of Wednesday Season 2 is titled “Here We Woe Again,” setting the tone for more strange and mysterious events that will unfold. Xavier (played by Percy Hynes White) from season one will not be returning for Wednesday Season 2 due to the actor facing sexual assault allegations. Yoko (played by Naomi J. Ogawa) won’t be returning either, as she announced via an Instagram post,
''Due to the on going uncertain scheduling and not much progression in Yoko’s journey I decided to step away from season two- This was a very difficult decision for me to make.''
However, the expanded focus on Wednesday’s family and the new characters promise new twists and even more drama. Fans can expect a spooky, humorous, and heartfelt storytelling when Wednesday Season 2 drops later this year.
Wednesday Season 2, part one will be released on August 6, 2025, and part two on September 3, 2025, only on Netflix.
