Wednesday is about to return for its second season on Netflix and things are looking bleak in this Tim Burtonesque nightmare.
In a newly released short clip, Wednesday Addams appears just as grim and mysterious as she did in the first season. Jenna Ortega returns to this iconic role, which appears in front of Tyler Galpin chained to a wall inside the Willow Hill psychiatric hospital. The two will return to the second season and reprise their terrifying rivalry.
Even though the clip is fairly brief, it gives an idea to the show's fans of what to expect from the new season. The first season's ending introduced them to the truth about Hyde and his link to Tyler. While he wasn't necessarily the central villain, he shook things up in their magical world, leading him to a miserable fate.
The clip doesn't offer any concrete details about either Wednesday or Tyler. It only offers a glimpse into the aftermath of their interaction in the first season's ending and Tyler's immediate fate. However, that glimpse is enough to get the fans pumped for the new season.
Wednesday Season 2: A brief clip shows Tyler tied to a wall inside the Willow Hill hospital.
Wednesday's first season dropped way back in 2022 and made waves upon its release. It received mostly favorable reviews and was up for a bunch of awards, including Emmys and the Golden Globes. The overall buzz around the show also led its star, Jenna Ortega to reach the heights of fame. Soon, she starred in two high-grossing horror projects - 2023's Scream VI and 2024's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
Now, the actress is about to return for the show's season two and things seem to be heating up in their dismal world. The new clip shows Tyler tied inside the Willow Hill hospital as his monstrous form can be fatal to the lives around him. So, the chains appear to restrain his movement and control his behavior.
In the clip, Tyler looks tired, almost out of breath, and emotional, potentially because of the chains. Ortega's character looks at him, blankly - possibly because she knows the consequences of relieving him from the chains. Suffice it to say that the clip has gotten the fans talking about the character development in the new season.
Wednesday is not the only show making a comeback on Netflix. Squid Game is also set to return for its third season shortly after the second season released on the platform. So, it looks like the show seems promising to the platform. Netflix teased the upcoming shows by saying:
"Spoiler alert: 2025 is the biggest year ever on Netflix. Trust us, you’re not ready for the end of Stranger Things and Squid Game. Or the return of Wednesday, Benoit Blanc, and Happy Gilmore. Not to mention The Witcher, Love Is Blind, Cobra Kai, Emily in Paris, Alice in Borderland and so, so much more."
