Joe Goldberg is back for Netflix's final installment for the five-seasons long You, as the new trailer for the season finale explores Goldberg's past and his actions. As fans buckle up to meet the psycho killer for the last time, the trailer offers glimpses of what fans can expect from the new season. Giving a recap of everything Joe has done in the last four seasons, the trailer shows how he has hunted down all the women he has loved- in an attempt to find his soulmate through “seduction, struggles, and secrets.”
Along with the trailer, Netflix has also released a new poster for the show that shows Joe and Bronte standing in a bookstore as Joe looks at the cameras and Bronte looks at Joe.
The official logline for the fifth season reads:
“Joe Goldberg returns to New York to enjoy his happily ever after… until his perfect life is threatened by the ghosts of his past and his own dark desires.”
Netflix has been consistently releasing teasers and posters for the season, teasing the finale to be "an ending one for the books."
Consisting of ten episodes, the fifth season will likely sum up all of Joe's past as he grapples with his relationship with those around him. The trailer starts with him saying:
“I’ve always believed in the one, that there’s someone out there for me. A soulmate.”
It then goes on to show a montage of all of his past loves, while a voice over of Goldberg plays in the background where he says:
“I’m just a normal guy. I’m going to help you get the life you deserve. I’m not some cold-blooded psycho. I’m not a ‘maybe’. I’m the one. The world loves a good love story.”
You Season 5 is all set to bring back Penn Badgley, with Charlotte Ritchie, Madeline Brewer, Anna Camp and Griffin Matthews also returning.
Why is You ending after five seasons?

Series showrunner Michael Foley has stated that they have always planned to end You after five seasons. Even though the show has raked in millions and is one of the most popular shows on the streaming giant, it makes sense to end the show after fifty episodes, with the fifth season taking Joe back to his previous life and deeds.
Talking about the finale, Foley has told Tudum:
“We always said that we would stop after five and [that], in a perfect world, we would bring Joe back home to New York. We loved the idea of things coming full circle for him. We’re excited by the fact that Joe came home as such a different person than [who] we saw in Season 1. At the core of our final story for Joe is this dichotomy of the old and the new.”
You Season 5 comes out on April 24 on Netflix.
