It is fortunate for Reid that Serena is a part of the project, as the author has mentioned the tennis player's impact on her when she was writing about Carrie Soto. Taylor Jenkins Reid talked about the impact of the Williams sisters on her book during an interview at the time of her book release:
"My incredible respect for the Williams sisters is part of what makes me interested in tennis. I wouldn’t write a book about tennis without the influence of just the absolute glory that has been their journey, but also specifically Serena’s quest to get as many Grand Slam titles as she has managed to do."
Taylor Jenkins Reid will also be executive producing this project via Circle Management + Production along with Brad Mendelsohn. Williams will be joined by Caroline Currier through Nine Two Six Productions, along with Picturestart.
Serena Williams has previously been the executive producer of the 2024 docuseries titled In the Arena: Serena Williams. She has also, along with her sister Venus Williams, executive produced the 2021 movie about their early years in Compton, being coached by their dad, King Richard.
