MrBeast is facing criticism on social media for a joke that went wrong. Recently, reports came out that Walter White’s house from AMC’s massively popular drama Breaking Bad is going on sale.
The family who has owned the house for over 50 years, decided to list it on the market for $4 million, as they were tired of the constant attention of the show’s fans. When the news spread on X, James Donaldson, aka MrBeast made a joke about it on the social media platform.
Keeping up with the show’s theme, the YouTuber quipped that any person who will create a meth lab in the house garage would win the property. The comment did not go down well with social media users, as people thought some fans could take it literally and cause trouble for the homeowner. Following criticism, the Beast Games creator was forced to delete the post.
MrBeast forced to delete social media comment about the Breaking Bad house after backlash
When a news website posted about the Breaking Bad house going on sale on X, MrBeast replied with a joke. He referenced the show’s story of the protagonist making meth to earn a fortune and wrote:
“First person to make a meth lab in the garage wins the house.”
Considering that the YouTuber’s channel is known for organizing challenges and games, some X users thought viewers might actually try to barge into the property, which could cause trouble for the Quintana family, the current owners.
One user wrote:
“MrBeast really out here turning Breaking Bad into a YouTube challenge? Bruh, this ain’t it.”
Another replied:
“breaking: bad, dumb MF mrbeast exposes himself as a fake fan.”
Meanwhile, there were some others who played along with the joke and replied with funny comments. However, MrBeast realized the possible consequences of his joke and eventually deleted the post.
The Breaking Bad house is on sale for $4 million
The property in question is a four-bedroom house in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which was featured in all five seasons of Breaking Bad as Walter White’s home. It is owned by Joanne Quintana, who revealed the property has been with her family since 1972.
However, with the AMC show’s success, the house also grabbed the limelight, and fans started stopping outside to click photos and even reenact some sequences. The family then had to install fencing around the house for their safety.
Joanne has listed the house on the market for $4 million as she is done with the fans’ attention and constant invasion of her privacy. She said in a statement to the local media outlet Kob:
“This was our family home from 1973, almost 52 years. So we’re going to walk away with just our memories. It’s time to move on. We’re done. There’s no reason to fight anymore. I hope they make it what the fans want. They want a BnB, they want a museum, they want access to it. Go for it.”
Breaking Bad aired on AMC from 2008 to 2013 and is now streaming on Netflix.
