Ryan Murphy serves as the executive producer of this upcoming Nathan Lee Graham, Matt Bomer, and Nathan Lane comedy. Murphy has earlier worked on different shows across multiple genres including crime and horror. With Mid-Century Modern, he is returning to the comedy genre.

The 1-minute 55-second trailer is filled with laugh-out-loud moments. It begins with Nathan Lane's character convincing his two other friends to come and stay with him in his wealthy parents' house in Palm Springs. We also see snippets of their lives. In a humorous scene, the youngest of the group, Bomer's Jerry instantly gets a date at a party. Elsewhere, Lane's Bunny requests closed captions after complaining about his age.

However, despite all the comedic moments, one of the show's episodes will also address the sad passing of actress Linda Lavin.

How will Mid-Century Modern address Linda Lavin's passing?

The world was shocked to learn about actress Linda Lavin's death on December 29, 2024. She had already filmed seven out of ten episodes of Mid-Century Modern before her passing. Max Mutchnick, one of the show's creators, revealed the way, Lavin's character will be written out of the show through an episode titled Here’s to You, Mrs. Schneiderman.

Max Mutchnick, David Kohan, and Jimmy Burrows, the pilot director released this statement following the actress's passing:

“Working with Linda was one of the highlights of our careers. She was a magnificent actress, singer, musician, and a heat seeking missile with a joke. But more significantly, she was a beautiful soul. Deep, joyful, generous and loving. She made our days better. The entire staff and crew will miss her beyond measure. We are better for having known her.”

Mid-Century Modern will stream on Hulu starting March 28, 2025.
