Michael C. Hall finally shared an update on the most-awaited Dexter: Resurrection as fans have been curious to dive back into Dexter Morgan's life. This exciting news comes straight from the official Showtime Dexter Instagram page on Friday through a video featuring Hall.

So, what's the latest update on Dexter: Resurrection series? Hall has confirmed that production is underway and they have kicked off with the filming. This adds to the fan excitement as the upcoming series will begin after the events of Dexter: New Blood. As shared by Hall:

"Hey, what’s up? It’s Michael C. Hall. I am on the set for the first official day of production for Dexter: Resurrection. I’m looking forward to another thrill ride, and when all is said and done, to you taking the ride with us. Stay tuned."

The new series will come out on Paramount+ with Showtime, adding another bloody chapter in the iconic Dexter universe. The New Blood series concluded with the finale "Sins of the Father", hinting at Dexter's end as he gets shot by his son Harrison.

This led fans to believe that Morgan met his end, but Patrick Gibson starrer Dexter: Original Sin confirmed that the serial killer vigilante survived after a near-death experience. The prequel also includes Hall's adult Dexter Morgan narrating his early life.

Dexter: Resurrection filming begins: Michael C. Hall confirms the update

As mentioned above, the third spin-off series Dexter: Resurrection is in production, and will soon arrive on our screens. While Dexter Morgan's survival is addressed in Gibson's prequel series, it doesn't shed light on what happened next after his surgery.

With Hall being the most obvious returning cast member, the spin-off also brings back James Remar as Dexter's adoptive father Harry Morgan, and David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista. Not only do these characters, but Jack Alcott will also reprise his role as the titular character's estranged son Harrison Morgan.

While talking about Dexter: Resurrection, showrunner Clyde Phillips teased how the story begins (via TV Insider):

"In the beginning of Resurrection, the doctor says to Dexter, Michael Hall, ‘Had you been shot in the summertime, you’d be dead, but you were shot in zero degree weather. And we ripped you open, and we’re able to get you minutes before you died."

It was the ice-cold weather that played a big role in Morgan's survival. Now that he's alive, it would be intriguing to watch how the serial killer vigilante would confront his son. Not only this, but Detective Batista also found out the truth about Dexter Morgan eliminating bad guys, and we don't know how she will handle this situation.
