Netflix's chart-topping series Adolescence's writer, Jack Thorne, has already landed the new Wavewalker series just a few weeks after its release. This can undoubtedly be attributed to the series' massive success. The crime drama premiered on March 13 on Netflix, and since then, the series' directors, producers, writers, and cast have all been at the center of global critical appreciation.
Adolescence's handling of themes of toxic masculinity, incel culture, and the psychological effects they have on young boys has sparked a conversation worldwide. This has certainly contributed to the co-writer of the series, Jack Thorne, landing his new project mere days after the release.

New project for the Adolescence writer
Netflix's Adolescence, written by Jack Thorne in collaboration with Stephen Graham, who also played Jamie's father in the show, has proved to be a great stepping stone for the writer's career. It has been revealed that Jack Thorne's next project is Wavewalker: Breaking Free.
James Norton's production company, Rabbit Track Pictures, will be producing this series with Jack Thorne as the writer. James Norton himself will also star in this new series, which is a TV adaptation of the book Wavewalker: A Memoir of Breaking Free by Suzanne Heywood.
Wavewalker, an international bestseller, is a memoir of Suzanne Heywood's experience as a young girl of seven, spending 10 years of her life on a 70-foot boat named Wavewalker. Suzanne's family took her along on an expedition to travel the world. She was a child forced to be an adult, helping her family on the boat, among other daily chores. The book is a memoir of those 10 years, after which she somehow got off the boat while her family continued sailing.
James Norton revealed during a Series Mania masterclass alongside Kitty Kaletsky that he would be taking on the role of Heywood’s father, considering that he was "a bit of a boat man" and this was an "amazing role." Norton adds about the book that Adolescence's Jack Thorne is going to write for the screen:
What starts as a dream as this roguish father paints this beautiful picture about this trip that is meant to take a year or two, takes about 10, The two children were basically enslaved by their father as crew members on this boat. He denied them a youth and an education. It’s about the against the odds fight for life and education, and the struggle between this very charismatic father, who loves his daugthers very dearly, and the cruelty that he puts on them.
Wavewalker's author, Suzanne Heywood, is overjoyed that Adolescence's Jack Thorne has decided to take this on as his next project.
The exact details about the series, its plot, and cast are being kept under wraps, but it will be interesting to watch what Jack Thorne creates next following Adolescence's massive success.
