Fresh off the success of his latest film Companion, Lukas Gage opened up on the one audition that got away as the actor revealed how he auditioned for HBO's The Last Of Us but failed to get a part in the series.
Speaking to Variety, the actor revealed how he was a fan of the game and wanted to be a part of the series' latest season but unfortunately, ended up not getting it. Gage said,
I’ve been luckier in TV than I have in film. There was one on 'The Last of Us' the new season that I didn’t get that I got close to. I would’ve loved to have done that.
He also said,
I was a fan of the game. I had a real video game era in my life where I had to throw it away. There was this game called 'The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion', and it was so bad that I would spend nights not sleeping, playing that video game.
However, Gage has been a regular in two other HBO series, The White Lotus and Euphoria, where he played Dillon and Tyler Clarkson, respectively.
In Companion, the actor had one of the central roles as Patrick, a companion robot to one of the characters, Eli, who turns aggressive in the story, complicating things. Apart from this, he is also a main character in Netflix's YOU, where he plays Adam Pratt, and has played Billy in Prime Video's Road House.
As the sequel of Road House is readying up for production, Gage adds hope that he might be a part of the project.
I didn’t die. So I think that there’s hope for me. I loved working with Doug Liman and then obviously to work with Jake Gyllenhaal, someone I grew up just admiring and rehearsing “Donnie Darko” in my room as an 11-year-old and wanting to be him.
Who is in the cast for The Last Of Us?
The video-game-inspired series is led by Pedro Pascal, who plays Joel Miller. A tortured survivor of the zombie apocalypse. Pascal is set on smuggling a young girl out of Boston, a quarantined city, and taking her to a rebel group, the Fireflies.
The young girl, Ellie, is played by Bella Ramsay. Apart from these two, the series features Gabriel Luna as Tommy and Rutina Wesley as Mari.
The new season also includes newcomers Kaitlyn Dever as Abby; Young Mazino as Jesse, and Isabela Merced as Dina.
The official synopsis for the new season says,
“Five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.”
The Last Of Us' second season is set to premiere in April 2025.
