Peacock drops the official trailer of its upcoming suspense thriller series, Long Bright River, starring Amanda Seyfried. The series will premiere on March 13, 2025.

The first look at the series hints at intense storytelling, based on the New York best-selling novel by Liz Moore, which is set in a troubled neighborhood in Philadelphia, hit by the opioid crisis.

The Long Bright River trailer introduces Seyfried's character, Mickey, who is a police officer patrolling the streets of the Kensington neighborhood in Philadelphia. She comes across a string of female murders, which puts the entire women's community in danger, and Mickey wants to have their backs.

But as she goes deeper, she finds that the case is personally connected to her, and she must see it to the end to discover the truth about her sister, Kacey.

Seyfried's Mickey discovers that the string of murders might be somehow connected to her sister Kacey, who is a struggling addict roaming the very streets she patrols.

While the people around her warn her about Kacey and how she disappears without notice, Mickey feels something is wrong this time and her sister might be in danger. The show will explore Mickey's journey of finding her sister and catching the killer who is targeting these women.

The official synopsis of Moore's novel reads as follows:

"gripping suspense novel that is also a moving story of sisters, addiction, and the formidable ties that persist between place, family, and fate."

Directed by Hagar Ben-Asher, this upcoming Peacock series is written by Nikki Toscano with Moore. Nikki Toscano, Amy Pascal, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Hagar Ben-Asher, Amanda Lewis, and Moore also serve as executive producers for the show. Toscano also serves as the series' showrunner.

Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy Award-winning actress Seyfried stars in Long Bright River. She is best known for Mamma Mia!, Mean Girls, Mank, Letters to Juliet, and Veronica Mars.

Seyfried is joined by fellow actors Nicholas Pinnock (For Life), Callum Vinson, John Doman (Borgia), and Ashleigh Cummings (When The War Began). Supporting actors for the series include Dash Mihok, Britne Oldford, Matthew Del Negro, Harriet Sansom Harris, Patch Darragh, and Perry Mattfeld.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television, the limited series will have a total of eight episodes, which will be available to binge on March 13, 2025.
