As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to push more projects to release, new details have emerged about the plot points in Hawkeye's second season. Industry insider Daniel Richtman gave fans a peek into what the story of the show's second season might look like.
Richtman reported that Hawkeye's second season will be inspired by Die Hard and will revolve around Jeremy Renner's Clint and Hailee Steinfield's Kate being stuck in one location as they fight assassins. Richtman also revealed that the antagonist of this season will be Barney Barton, Clint's elder brother. The series will also be set during Christmas, like it's predecessor.
Although none of these rumors have been confirmed as of yet, reports surrounding the nature of the sequel have constantly been on the rise. Director of the series Rhys Thomas has previously told Collider in 2021:
"I cannot speak to future plans in the tradition of secrecy. Again, the show coming out, you never know how it's going to be received and it has been amazing to see how warmly people have taken it and enjoyed it. And it's been great to see [Hailee Steinfeld's] character embraced and sort of land so firmly in the MCU. I sincerely look forward to where that character goes next. And yes, I loved walking on the streets of the MCU and would gladly enjoy doing it again."
Brad Winderbaum has also spoken to Entertainment Weekly in February 2025 about the show's potential future and has said:
“Hawkeye is another one that feels like you can make a second season of that show because it’s Christmas, because it’s Clint and Kate. You can kind of revisit it whenever, and we’re looking for opportunities to do that.”
What is the first season of Hawkeye about?

Released in 2021, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye follows the hero through his journey as he faces enemies and attempts to defeat them so he can be with his family during Christmas. Clint takes on the role of his alter ego Ronin, the one he adopted as he became a vigilante after The Blip when his family was wiped away. The show follows the events of Avengers: Endgame.
Fans are also introduced to Marvel's newest character Kate Bishop, a Hawkeye fan who ends up becoming Clint's partner in action as the two skilled archers set out to face enemies.
Directed by Rhys Thomas and Bert & Bertie, the show is produced by Jonathan Igla, Rhys Thomas, Brad Winderbaum and Kevin Feige.
The series is a part of Marvel's fourth phase and ran for six episodes. Garnering mostly positive reviews, it remains to be one of the most awaited future projects under Marvel.
Hawkeye's first season is available to stream on Disney+.
