Netflix’s Kaos has taken the world by storm since its release on August 29, 2024. This dramedy’s ethos is primarily Greek mythology with a blend of vogue. The series is currently on Netflix’s Top 10 list and has also obtained a score of 72% from Rotten Tomatoes per Cosmopolitan.

The series revolves around a megalomaniac Zeus (Jeff Goldblum) who receives a rude awakening through an age-old prophecy: “A line appears, the order wanes, the family falls, and Kaos reigns.” Despite conferring with Prometheus (Stephen Dillane) about seeing a blip in the Meander, his prisoner frenemy reassures Zeus that nothing could destroy him.

Little did Zeus know about the three people who were en route to fulfill the prophecy and trigger his downfall.

The series unravels in the aftermath of Zeus’s paranoia as he attempts to take extreme precautions including burning The Fates alive, to subdue the prophecy. Kaos ended with several unanswered questions and plot twists urging fans to wonder about Season 2.

While Netflix hasn’t officially declared the renewal of Kaos Season 2, the show’s creator, Charlie Covell, did offer a silver lining. Speaking to Cosmopolitan UK in an interview dated September 2, 2024, Covell teased a potential Season 2 claiming he didn’t want the series to end on a cliffhanger.

Furthermore, he expressed his desire to prolong the storyline with the cast and crew, since the story was far from over. Discussing about the future of Kaos, Covell said,

“My dream was three seasons. I’ve got many ideas and a strong sense of what I’d want to do with it.”

Furthermore, Covell said that although Netflix hasn’t decided on the show’s renewal they were “supportive” of the idea. In a similar interview with the publication, Covell expressed his affinity for the genre and passion to do more with the characters of Greek Gods.

Whether or not his plans would come to fruition remains to be seen. If Kaos continues to top the charts and produces a good viewership rating, the chances of a new season will surely increase.

The cast and crew have their say

While there’s much to be uncovered and explored, several cast members have their own conspiracies about what to expect in Season 2. In another interview with the aforementioned publication, Misia Butler, the actor playing Caneus teased possible character development for his fellow castmates’ characters.

Claiming he would opt for a much darker story for himself, he added:

“You’ve got Leila on one hand, the collected president. And you’ve got the other form of anarchy in Billie Piper, Riddy could go either way.”

In agreement with his co-star, Killian Scott said:

"Well, that's what Caneus is set up to be, the revolutionary. The anarchy."

Lastly, Goldblum (Zeus) also shared his thoughts on what viewers could expect in the anticipated Season 2. The Jurassic Park actor revealed that like viewers and fans of Kaos, he too was rather curious about what was next. In an interview with Variety, he said:

“Charlie’s got many things in mind. So it’s fertile ground…

While the series is a dramedy, it did have a certain dark edge resulting in the death of a few characters. That is unless the anticipated Season 2 has resurrection plans. Nonetheless, viewers could expect these cast members to return for a possible new season:

  1. Jeff Goldblum as Zeus
  2. Janet McTeer as Hera
  3. Nabhaan Rizwan as Dionysus
  4. Killian Scott as Orpheus
  5. Aurora Perrineau as Riddy
  6. Misia Butler as Caneus
  7. Leila Farzad as Ari
  8. Cliff Curtis as Poseidon
  9. David Thewlis as Hades
  10. Rakie Ayola as Persephone
  11. Billie Piper as Cassandra
  12. Stephen Dillane as Prometheus
  13. Debi Mazar as Medusa
  14. Ramon Tikaram as Charon

How did Kaos Season 1 ending set up a Season 2?

Kaos season 1 ends with Zeus having an epiphany about his immortality. He can bleed and is no longer a god. Additionally, his illusion of never worrying about death or having unimaginable power comes crashing down. While Zeus has experienced his dark vision come true, he has another bigger problem.

After Ari kills her father, she allies with the rebels wanting to defy the gods in Mount Olympus. Additionally, the finale saw an eerie revelation about how gods maintain immortality. It was revealed that after humans die, their souls turn into water drunk by the gods to remain immortal.

Cassandra (Billie Piper) left Riddy with a final note from the prophet saying, “You must go to Ari and set the living free. Caeneus will do the same with the dead.”

Season 2 would likely pursue the paths of Ari, Caeneus, and Riddy now that they’ve got new agendas. Likewise, it would also explore Prometheus’s proclamation of waging war against the gods on Mount Olympus.

What can we expect from Kaos Season 2?

As mentioned earlier, Kaos Season 1 ended with several unknown variables concerning Zeus’s future, the aftermath of Ari’s decision to defy the Gods, and Prometheus on the throne. Should the show be renewed, it would center around the roles of Caneus, Riddy, Ari, and Dionysus now that they’ve gotten a newfound sense of their powers.
