James Marsden has made it clear that he would love to return for another season of Paradise. While there are no confirmed plans for a new season, Marsden’s enthusiasm for the show and its bold storytelling leaves the door open for future possibilities.

"I would love to do it again. I don’t know how that would work, but I’m open to the suggestions,"

Marsden said in an interview with Collider. He praised the show’s willingness to take risks and challenge audiences, calling it a rare and courageous endeavor.

"It’s very rare to be a part of something that feels brave enough to take risks and try to tell a story that might make us ask a lot of questions about ourselves and our future,"

he added.

Marsden’s journey with Paradise began with a surprise conversation at the Emmy Awards. Dan Fogelman, the show’s creator, approached him to discuss a role. Initially, Marsden was shocked when Fogelman mentioned he would be playing the president.

"I immediately got tensed up there. I was like, ‘Really? Me? The president?’"

Marsden recalled.

However, after Fogelman explained that the character was unconventional, Marsden read the script and was immediately drawn to the unique approach.

"I obviously knew who he was, and I’ve been an admirer of his work for a long time, so it was a nice feather in my cap,"

Marsden said of Fogelman.

Marsden’s experience with Paradise

Marsden praised the atmosphere on set, describing the cast and crew as kind, talented, and at the top of their game. He particularly highlighted his on-screen dynamic with Sterling K. Brown, who plays Xavier. Their chemistry added depth to the show’s narrative, making their characters’ connection central to the story.

"Working with Sterling K. Brown was a dream come true,"

Marsden said.

One of the challenges Marsden faced was portraying a character whose ending was already known. Despite this, he managed to develop his character, Cal, by exploring his past. Marsden also shared a humorous moment from filming, recalling the use of a dead body stand-in.

Marsden found similarities between his experience in Paradise and his role in Netflix’s Dead to Me. In both shows, his characters were initially planned for one season but became integral to the storyline.

"I’m finding myself in the same situation as Dead to Me, which is, hey, I know I’m supposed to be around for one season, but how do we get to continue this party?"

Marsden said.

James Marsden’s journey with Paradise has been a blend of surprise opportunities and memorable moments. His passion for the show’s story and characters shines through, leaving fans eager to see if he’ll return for more.
