Mark Cuban from Shark Tank talks about becoming a billionaire
In a recent conversation with Jules Terpak about the tech industry and its evolution, Mark discussed when he first saw himself declared a billionaire on paper.
When the host of the podcast asked the Shark Tank panelist about how he felt about becoming a billionaire, he recalled,
"It's weird, right. I remember the moment I became a billionaire on paper and I remember I was like sitting because you get in your mind... okay... this is I have a chance to get here right and I'm hitting the refresh key F5 refresh refresh till I hit it and I'm like sitting there you know and I just started jumping up and down dancing."
He continues,
"Then I realized okay I don't have any more money it's just on paper but then when I turned it into cash... it was weird not so much the way I felt but the way everybody else looked at me... because I went from being Mark to Mark Cuban the billionaire. that's the weirdest part."
The Shark Tank panelist further reveals how he first questioned everything,
"The second weirdest part is how the f*ck this happened to me. You know! Why me... it's not like... I mean there's so much luck involved you know if the internet bubble had happened when I was at micro solutions maybe it's a different beast, you know but it happened right when we were doing broadcast.com and you know it that was the difference and so you know I was like okay don't get too caught up in it."
"Mavs was a project that became more of my identity than billionaire Mark Cuban once I got into the maps. But still...it's still...you know it's inconceivable to me in a lot of ways and I try not to take it for granted ever it creates different challenges with three kids but just it is what it is."
He further discusses how his then-project Mavs became his focus and kept him grounded and how he still tries not to take anything for granted.
