Netflix's The Great British Bake Off's much-awaited fifteenth season recently premiered. For the UK, the show premiered on September 24, 2024, whereas the US premiere date was September 27. Similar to the show's previous seasons, there will be ten episodes, each scheduled to be released weekly.

The first episode of the fifteenth season featured challenges from the show's first week. Participants were given various tasks, including baking a "loaf cake." Then, for the "technical," bakers were notified about the "mystery" ingredients, which came with a twist, and later, there was an exciting task.

The task was to prepare a "hyper-realistic illusion cake." While each baker prepared a unique cake, one particular cake caught everyone's attention. 34-year-old Georgie baked and prepared a cake resembling her chicken, "Fanny."

Upon witnessing such a well-crafted cake, The Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood said,

"Yeah. The detail there in the feathers, it's paid off, I think."

The Great British Bake Off: Judges praise Georgie's hyper-realistic illusion cake, aka "Fanny"

For The Great British Bake Off's hyper-realistic illusion cake challenge, co-host Noel Fielding shared the instructions with all the bakers,

"Our lovely judges would love you to make a hyper-realistic illusion cake."

For the challenge, Georgie, a pediatric nurse from Carmarthenshire, opted to bake a cake shaped like her chicken.

"I'm actually making my chicken, who's called Fanny," shared Georgie.

Later, while baking the cake, things didn't work out in Georgie's favor.

"This mix doesn't look right to me. It's so cold, the butter keeps setting everywhere and then you're gonna overwork. I'm gonna have to just remake those sponges. But I've made this, now. These two are actually cooking a lot better. There's a better rise on them." she shared.

When she was assembling the sponges and the cream filling, they were "running out" of the sponges. Georgie referred to her situation as a "mess."

However, with her skills and hard work, she could be later seen managing everything well as her cake was about to be ready.

"I'm starting to see the shape now," she said.

The Great British Bake Off baker Georgie prepared a replica of her chicken, Fanny. She carefully crafted visually identical feathers, beak, eyes, and more detailing.

Looking at the cake, one of the judges, Prue Leith, commented,

"I think she's (chicken shaped cake) lovely. She's got real personality."

Another judge, Paul Hollywood, agreed and mentioned that "it's paid off."

Then, it was time for The Great British Bake Off judges to taste the cake. As the judges were about to taste Georgie's hyper-realistic illusion cake, co-host Alison Hammond teased,

"How does Fanny taste, guys?"

Hearing that, all the bakers burst into laughter. The judges liked the taste and appreciated Georgie as the cake was "absolutely" lovely.

Further, Judge Paul shared his views on the cake,

"The one in the middle is perfect. Flavor I really like. That lemon lightness to it."

Judge Prue Leith agreed with fellow judge and said the cake was "great."

The Great British Bake Off's next episode will be released on Netflix on October 1, 2024, in the UK and the US on October 4.
