The romantic comedy series, which premiered in September 2024, was renewed for a second season the following month, thanks to the positive response from the audience. Actress Jackie Tohn, who stars as Esther Roklov in the show, has now shared a positive update about the second season.

Tohn has revealed the new season is all set to begin filming in March, 2025. She has also expressed excitement about what is in store for her character in the upcoming installment. Nobody Wants This revolves around an unconventional love story between a rabbi and an agnostic podcaster.

Jackie Tohn reveals when Nobody Wants This Season 2 will begin filming

Jackie Tohn attended the Critics’ Choice Awards in Santa Monica, California, on February 7, 2025, where Nobody Wants This was nominated in three categories, including Best Comedy Series.

During the event, the actress had an interaction with Deadline and opened up about when the shoot for the second season of her show would commence. Confirming that the filming will begin on March 3, 2025, she said:

“We start March 3. I don’t know what date it is, but I feel like that’s soon. So, it’s been a whirlwind.”

Tohn highlighted how the cast has not gotten a breather since the first season came out, and said:

“It sort of feels like we haven’t stopped since Season 1 because we came out and then we were doing press. Then we were sort of thrust right into awards season, which was sort of insane that we were even included in that conversation. And now, we’re starting Season 2 already. It’s sort of just going, it’s awesome.”

The actress further talked about how things will pan out for her character, Esther Roklov, in Nobody Wants This season 2. Tohn said she could not say much, but revealed her character is going in an exciting direction in the upcoming season:

“Well you know I can’t tell. I haven’t read anything yet, but I’ve got into the writers’ room, we’ve talked about my character arc, and that’s all really exciting. I love her, I love it. So, stay tuned, it’s gonna be really exciting.”

The series follows Noah Roklov, a rabbi, who falls in love with Joanne, a dating podcaster. Despite their starkly different backgrounds, beliefs, and families, the two try to brace through every challenge to be together.

Esther Roklov is the sister-in-law of Noah. She initially does not approve of his relationship with Joanne. Adam Brody stars as Noah, while Kristen Bell portrays Joanne in the series.

The show also stars Justine Lupe as Morgan, Joanne's sister; Timothy Simons as Sasha Roklov, Noah's brother, Stephanie Faracy as Lynn, Joanne’s mother; Tovah Feldshuh as Bina, Noah's mother; and Paul Ben-Victor as Ilan, Noah's father.
