Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban loves to chase new ideas and ventures. As an owner of multiple ventures from different industries, the billionaire shark does not shy away from putting his money into projects that appear potentially appealing and profitable to him.
Back in the time when the world knew TikTok with a different name, Musical.ly, Mark Cuban saw potential in the content-creating app, and wanted invest in to it. at that time the company was not even that profitable but Cuban believed that it would take off as it resonated with the current generation's demand and likability.
During an interview with Jules Terpak on December 17, 2024, Mark Cuban shared his thoughts on evolving technology, healthcare, and many more things. One of the topics was the TikTok ban and Mark Cuban revealed that he liked the platform more when it was "just about dance" and was known as Musical.ly. He then shared:
"I'm on Tik Tok but it's usually through a link or a notification I get that catches my attention. I used to scroll it more than I do now. I liked it better when it was dances and music. Now it's a business."
"I remember when it was musically and I tried to invest. Because when it was musically live oh my God I loved it. Because I could just turn it on and there would be 15,000 people live immediately that I could talk to. It was insane. I loved it" added Mark Cuban."
Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban opens up about the impact of AI on social media
During an interview with Jules Terpak, the Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban talked about the unlimited possibilities and impact of AI on social media. Cuban explained that the AI has the power to generate virtual human stuff and currently, it is dicey to say whether it's a good thing or not.
Cuban told Jules Terpak that he has invested in a company, VirtualHuman.Com, which posts virtual human activities and creates avatars. He explained that AI can create a virtual environment which could lead to people being in a bubble and it can be "insane". He further explained that every social media user would be able to curate the content the way they want which will not be good for the economy.
Shark Tank judge added that especially social media influencers would not be able to benefit from it because everybody would be able to create a virtual or fake influential life to garner more traffic.
Shark Tank Season 16 will be the last season of Mark Cuban as an Investor.
