“It comes naturally”: Gabriel Macht reveals how he prepared to play Harvey Specter in Suits LA after years

Gabriel Macht reprised his role as Harvey Specter in three episodes of Suits LA, leaving fans with a heavy dose of nostalgia and memories. The actor was previously seen as Harvey in Suits, which concluded in 2019.

In the spin-off series, it is revealed that Harvey and Ted Black have been longtime friends who collaborate to take down a dangerous criminal. In an interview with Deadline, Macht has talked about whether it was challenging for him to play Harvey again after a gap of six years.

The actor revealed he did not face any difficulty in reprising his role. He is so used to playing the character that it comes naturally to him. Talking about how he transforms into Harvey as soon as he puts on the attorney's suit, Macht said:

“Once you put on the suit, the rest is like riding a bike; it comes naturally. I get in touch with all the elements and the behaviors that make Harvey, and that are me, that you mesh. So, it wasn’t too hard.”

Gabriel Macht further revealed he has done some brand endorsements in recent years, which also helped him stay in touch with the character of Harvey Specter, since the lawyer is also famous for pitching and convincing people. He also said he had a great time working on Suits LA,

“For the past few years, I’ve done some brand ambassadorships where the idea of the guy selling whatever it is, is this sort of the Harvey character, which is already in me.”

Macht added,

“But putting on a suit and the shoes is a little different than putting on a baseball uniform and cleats. [Laughs] I had a really nice time. It was great.”

Macht appeared in three episodes of Suits LA. With flashback sequences, it was revealed that Harvey and Ted used to play baseball together. The two seem to be cut from the same cloth due to their witty one-liners and charming personalities. They eventually teamed up to send the mob boss Pellegrini behind bars.

Macht earlier made the character immortal with his iconic performance in Suits. The legal drama aired on the USA Network from 2011 to 2019 and became a huge success due to its fascinating characters and gripping narrative. Its popularity ultimately led to the creation of the spinoff, Suits LA.

The spin-off series stars Stephen Amell, Josh McDermitt, Bryan Greenberg, Lex Scott Davis, Troy Winbush, Maggie Grace, Azita Ghanizada, Alice Lee, Rachelle Goulding, Kevin Weisman, Carson A. Egan, and Anthony Azizi in pivotal roles.
