The fifth and final season of You premiered on Netflix on April 24, 2025, and fans are already spinning out over the finale. Penn Badgley's Joe Goldberg gets what has been coming for him for the past 4 seasons of the show, and he's finally arrested.
As the controversial psychotic character is finally made to face the consequences of his crime, the audience is left wondering if this is actually the last we'll see of this controversial character. Even though there is zero chance that Joe can make it out of prison, however good he is at cages, showrunners Justin W. Lo and Michael Foley, in conversation with TV Insider, talked about the possibility of a You spin-off and as of now, there won't be one.
Here's everything we know about the possibility of a spinoff.
Netflix showrunners discuss You getting a potential spinoff

In a conversation with TV Insider, the showrunners of You were presented with the possibility of a spin-off for You. They entertained the idea of a spin-off where Joe's son Henry would be at the center of the show, grown up, and maybe trying to reconnect with his father. However, they made it clear that no such spin-off was in the books as of now; however, nothing was set in stone.
In the final season, Kate, played by Charlotte Ritchie, gained custody of Joe and her son, Henry, and they went on to start a new life after Joe's arrest. It could be an interesting storyline to witness Joe's son Henry as the lead of a spin-off that is a continuation, with Joe being a significant aspect for the young man.

Showrunner Foley mentioned that when they were preparing to film the season in London, they were on the lookout for a British writer and came across one who had written down a script where Joe's son Henry was at the center of a spin-off. The showrunners ended up not hiring the writer but agreed that the idea could be interesting.
"When we were doing our London season, we were trying to hire a British writer. A writer that we didn’t hire wrote a brilliant script, which was basically that. I’ve read it. This guy’s pilot was the equivalent of the son of Joe and then reconnecting with his father, and it was brilliant, but I almost feel like that’s another reason why I can’t do it, because of a little thing called a lawsuit.
Showrunner Lo also agreed that the idea was interesting, but according to him, most of what makes You what it is, is because of Penn Badgley's perception and portrayal of Goldberg.
"I think it’s an interesting concept. I think that part of what makes You so successful is Penn Badgley as Joe. I personally haven’t gone down the road of what it would be like for a show centered around his son because I just think that the part of the DNA of You is so much Penn playing Joe."
So, as of now, the door is shut on a potential You spinoff since the show has always revolved around Joe Goldberg's character, but, there's no doubt it could be an exciting premise with Henry as the lead.
For now, though, all 10 episodes of the final season of You are available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
