HBO's new TV series based on J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter is one of the biggest projects the studio is looking forward to as of now. With an already existing counterpart of a successful movie franchise, the series has been a major buzz among fans as theories, fan castings and newer inclusions are being discussed.
Although no actors have been confirmed yet, a lot of reports and rumors have ensued, marking several actors to be a part of the project. Among these castings, Cillian Murphy's rumored role as Voldemort has stood out, as fans expressed their approval and excitement over the Academy Award winning actor's portrayal of the franchise's antagonist.
Although Murphy has made no such comment on the casting yet, Channing Dungey, Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Television Group spoke up about the role of Voldemort and if it has been cast yet. Speaking to Deadline in a recent interview, Dungey said:
"We are still weighing a couple of different options there, so we’re not quite ready there yet. That’s an important role to get right."
When asked if Murphy was one of the actors being considered for the role, the Chairman responded:
"I have no comment, no comment, no comment."
In the original film franchise, Ralph Fiennes brilliantly portrayed the vicious Voldemort for five movies, and was quite popularly one of the best casting choices for the films. Fiennes has previously approved the Oppenheimer actor to slip into his role as he previously told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live:
“Cillian is a fantastic actor. That’s a wonderful suggestion. I would be all in favor of Cillian. Yeah.”
Who else has been cast in the Harry Potter series so far?

Casting reports have been all over the place for HBO's Harry Potter series. Although none of the rumors have been confirmed yet, here are a few actors who are being considered for roles in the TV adaptation.
Paapa Essiedu, known for his work in I May Destroy You, which earned him an Emmy nomination, is being considered for the role of Severus Snape. Previously the character was played by Alan Rickman, who starred as Snape in all the eight films.
Nick Frost is rumored to play Rubeus Hagrid. The Shaun Of The Dead actor is reportedly close to closing the deal with HBO to play the gamekeeper, according to Deadline. The role was previously played by Robbie Coltrane.
John Lithgow might be portraying Albus Dumbledore in the series. Although the actor has confirmed his involvement in the project, HBO has denied the confirmation. Michael Gambon played Albus Dumbledore in the later six movies after Richard Harris' death, who played the headmaster in the first two films.
Sharon Horgan and Janet McTeer are in talks for the role of Minerva McGonagall. In the films, Maggie Smith played the role of the Transfiguration professor.
