Andor, the critically acclaimed Star Wars spin-off show will return to Disney+ with Season 2 on April 22, 2025. Diego Luna will be reprising the titular role of Cassian Andor in the series. During an interview recently he shared that though they initially wanted to make five seasons of hit series, owing to the production that took a long time, they decided to conclude with two.
Diego Luna appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to talk about the upcoming season of Andor. When asked if this is the last season of the show, he said,
“It is the final season because it takes two years and a half to make one season…we promised five at the beginning but then we were doing the first and then Tony Gilroy, the creator and writer…the amazing Tony Gilroy came to Scotland and we were shooting and we sat down and said like this is going to be impossible… How can we do five seasons? It’s more than a decade, I cannot like fire a blaster for another 10 years. It’s going to look ridiculous right? And this is a prequel also it’s like insane.”
Andor tells the story of the rebellion movement against the Galactic Empire. It is the prequel to the 2016 movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is the prequel to the original Star Wars film. The series gives the fans an in-dept look at the resistance movement that took place before the Empire falls. Andor Season 2 will have 12 episodes with four chapters of three episodes each. The series is created by Tony Gilroy.
Andor’s Final Season – What to expect?
In the previous season, Cassian Andor joins the resistance movement against the Empire. In the second season, we will see the series lead up to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Cassian will have a showdown with Director Orson Krennic (played by Ben Mendelsohn), who will be returning as the villain.
The characters are also expected to take big time jumps through the four chapters. Cassian may take on a bigger role in the Rebel Alliance as he teams up with allies to wage war against the Empire.
As per the official synopsis of Andor Season 2,
“Season 2 will see the characters and their relationships intensify as the horizon of war draws near and Cassian becomes a key player in the Rebel Alliance. Everyone will be tested and, as the stakes rise, the betrayals, sacrifices and conflicting agendas will become profound.”
The final season of Andor will premiere on April 22, 2025, on Disney+ with three episodes.
