A luxurious mansion featured in HBO’s popular comedy-drama Succession has burnt to ashes in the Los Angeles fires. The property belonged to Luminar Technologies CEO Austin Russell and was seen in the show’s fourth and final season in 2023.

The house was bought by Russell in 2021 for $83 million and was currently estimated to be worth a whopping $125 million. The lavish four-story property is now completely charred, with only some beams and debris visible in its place.

Wildfires have been wreaking havoc in Southern California since January 7, 2025, and continue to blaze across various parts of Los Angeles. The disaster has so far claimed 16 lives and damaged over 12,000 structures, including the Succession mansion.

$125 million mansion featured in Succession reduced to ashes in Los Angeles fires

As per a report by The Daily Mail, nothing is left of the Succession mansion, which once boasted six bedrooms and 18 bathrooms and offered breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. The four-story building was spread over 20,000 square feet.

The house featured a chef’s kitchen designed by Nobu and a wine lounge that kept the temperature just right. The property had some fancy amenities, including a retractable ceiling in the owner’s bedroom, which opened up for stargazing.

It also had a 20-seat movie theater and a beautiful garden with a big bronze Buddha statue. The backyard included a swimming pool and garden. For extra security and comfort, there was an auto gallery, a spa, and a safe room with a retinal-scan system.

However, after the fire, all that remains are some blackened beams. The building has collapsed, leaving metal and debris everywhere. The inside of the house is gone, including the rooms, the kitchen, and the spa.

Though the fire pit and the pool are still there, they are covered in soot and ash. The house was listed on the market for rent before it was charred by the wildfire for a monthly rent of $450,000. It was constructed in 2020 by real estate developer Ardie Tavangarian before being sold to Austin Russell in 2021.

The mansion in Succession Season 4

The house in question was seen in the premiere episode of Succession season 4. The Roy siblings, Kendall, Roman, and Siobhan, stayed at the place where they plotted against their father, Logan Roy.

The episode, The Munsters, showed the house's driveway, swimming pool, outside views, and lavish rooms.

However, the show did not explain who the house belonged to in the story. Apart from the Succession mansion, several other buildings seen in films and shows have also been destroyed in the LA fires. These include the Altadena villa featured in Max's Hacks and the Palisades Charter High School, seen in Freaky Friday.
