The Challenge season 40: Battle of the Eras is set to premiere on MTV on Wednesday, August 14, at 8 p.m. ET/ PT. The much-awaited competing show features 40 veterans from previous seasons who will take on extreme challenges to win the grand prize, which is $1 million.
For the upcoming season premiere, MTV revealed that "new challenges and twists" will keep the competitors "on their toes."
In his recent interview with the US Magazine, one of the competitors, Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio, revealed almost everyone he was "really close to" was there. However, he mentioned missing Wes alongside him on The Challenge season 40: Battle of the Eras.
"Everyone I’m really close to is pretty much all there, I wish Wes was there," shared Johnny Bananas.

As The Challenge season 40: Battle of the Eras is set to premiere, Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio, along with 40 veterans, will return to the show once again.
Johnny shared more about the upcoming premiere, his competitors, and who he was missing. While Johnny mentioned missing Wes Bergmann, who is said to be retired from the show, according to Johnny:
"Wes isn’t going anywhere. Are you kidding me? He just needs to get his mojo back. Wes currently has an APB out for his mojo because he lost it."
He also mentioned Wes as one of the "biggest names." Shedding more light on fellow participants, Johnny also talked about Sarah Rice, whom he thought "he put her into forced retirement” and that she might not return.
The Challenge season 40: Battle of the Eras will feature four competing groups. Seasons 1 to 10 will be Era 1, and Seasons 11 to 20 will be Era 2, which Johnny will also be part of.
Following that, competitors from seasons 21 to 30 will feature in Era 3, and Era 4 will consist of participants from season 31 and further.
Among other participants, the show will also feature Cara Maria from 2019, alongside her on-again-off-again boyfriend Paulie. According to Johnny, whenever either of them are seen participating,
"They are going to be very disruptive forces."
He also mentioned how he and Paulie had their differences, and as for Cara, Johnny hasn’t been in touch with her for years. However, since they will all be on the same team during Battle of the Eras, they’re "gonna have to work together."
