HBO will soon be back with the second season of its much-anticipated post-apocalyptic drama show adaptation, The Last Of Us, and excitement among fans is already skyrocketing. Amidst all the social media buzz, Kaitlyn Dever is set to debut in Season 2 and will reportedly play the role of a solider (Abby) out on a quest for vengeance.

The story of the first season revolves around Joel Miller (played by Pedro Pascal) and a teenage girl named Elie (Bella Ramsey portrays) as the two try to survive and find their way to life in a post-apocalyptic world. Now, the introduction of a new character in a pivotal role is the talk of the town.

Furthermore, Golden Globe-nominated star Kaitlyn Dever broke silence on her new role in The Last Of Us Season 2 while talking to ScreenRant in an interview held at SXSW. She reportedly mentioned,

"Well, it's hard not to see those things on the internet. It's hard not to stop myself from looking at it every once in a while, especially going into this, for sure."

Kaitlyn Dever's eagerness for her new part in The Last Of Us Season 2 is clearly evident, and she also promised her on-screen delivery by saying that she wants justice to be done for the character Abby. Her exact words were:

"And I want to do this character justice and make the fans proud by bringing her to life in this kind of way."

However, Kaitlyn also focused on the fact that the showrunners' "collaboration" is really important to do "justice" to the character. Learning about Abby and understanding her "emotional state" is crucial for the perfect delivery, according to Kaitlyn's statements to ScreenRant.

Now, bringing a new character to life while following in the footsteps of the OG game is quite a challenging task, and "making sure" she does it well is Kaitlyn's primary focus right now. Abby is a woman who has been struck with grief, and her emotional turmoil is what takes up a major portion of her persona.

Supporting this, Dever further added:

"And making sure I was really getting to the core of who she is and what drives her and her emotional state; her anger and her frustration and her grief and all of that. I wanted to make sure that that was what I was focusing most of my energy on."

The Last Of Us Season 2 is set for an exclusive HBO premiere on April 13, 2025.
