Storm Reid will not return for Euphoria Season 3, but the actress confirmed that the decision was amicable and that the show's cast will always have a special place in her heart.
In a recent interview with Variety, Reid said:
“I love Gia. I loved being able to embody her and give her life. I’m really excited for Season 3. I know they’re going to do something special and it’s going to be good.”
While she said that the decision to leave was 'bittersweet', she had to make this difficult choice because of her other commitments and college.
Reid portrayed the character of Gia, Rue's (Zendaya) sister, in HBO's Euphoria for two seasons but will not return for the upcoming season, which was confirmed in November 2024. Production started on Euphoria Season 3 in January 2025.
Here is everything to know about Reid's exit from Season 3.
Reid opens up on her exit from Euphoria Season 3
Talking about her on-screen sister Zendaya, Reid said:
“That’s my sister before ‘Euphoria’ and after. That’s gonna be my sister for life, so I’m sure we’ll work together again one day in some capacity.”
While the decision was definitely difficult, Reid noted that it would be challenging to manage the new season with her upcoming dance film 'Get Lite' with Paramount:
“It’s our dance movie because we haven’t had a good one of those in a really long time. It’s gonna be in Harlem. It’s quintessential New York. People fail to realize it’s not like just breakdancing and like doing cool tricks.”
In addition, she is also busy with her production company A Seed & Wings, and it was not possible for her to return for Euphoria Season 3.
While maintaining a flourishing acting career, Reid will also graduate from USC this year, and she clearly has a lot on her plate right now, as she notes:
“I have two months and I’m over it. I’m just itching to be done...''
While Reid will not join Euphoria Season 3, most of the main cast will return for a third season, including Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elrodi, and many more.
While fans were almost convinced that the show would not return for another season, HBO magically revived it for another season, which will have a time jump of five years. The show will leave its high school setting behind, and the characters' lives will take a dark new turn.
