The fourth Daredevil: Born Again episode, Sic Semper Systema streamed on Disney+ on March 18, 2025. The episode begins with someone packing Hector Ayala's White Tiger costume and amulet in a bag. Elsewhere, Matt Murdock asks the forensic analyst about the projectile which was never found. Then Hector's niece Angela del Toro walks in wanting to see her uncle's remains.
Recently, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, who directed the episode, revealed that these opening moments also had an extra scene that did not make it into the final version of the episode. Nachmanoff sat down for an interview with Brandon Davis for the latter's Phase Hero: A Film & TV Podcast.
Davis asked the director whether he and his team on Daredevil: Born Again consider teasing the powers of the mystical amulet in the show. To this, Nachmanoff recalled a cut scene that would've set up the future of the White Tiger in the MCU. He said:
"I remember shooting that little sequence with the amulet. As a director I did a few different versions then you send it off to the editorial. I can't remember what in the final version which way we did it. But I did one where it lights up in the bag, one where it stays dark. We did it as like the idea was that it was when the young girl comes, it senses her so it like started illuminating."
If this scene had made it into the final version of Sic Semper Systema, then it would have followed Marvel Comics because Angela does succeed her uncle as the White Tiger.
What do Daredevil: Born Again episode 4's director's comments mean?
In the comics, Angela takes up her uncle's mantle as the White Tiger after the amulet chooses her. She is an FBI agent who continues her uncle's work as the White Tiger. However, in Daredevil: Born Again, Angela is still pretty young. So, if the amulet were to choose her as Hector's successor, it would mean that she would need a mentor, which could be Daredevil.
Furthermore, Angela suiting as the new White Tiger also might suggest that she could be one of the young Avengers that Marvel fans have been hoping for a while. Daredevil: Born Again has already hinted about one of the possible young Avengers characters, Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. An upcoming episode is also set to feature Kamala's father Yusuf Khan.
Thus, she already has a strong support system in the form of Matt Murdock and a superhero team consisting of people as old as her.
