The 78th edition of the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) is around the corner and excitement is already peaking among the audience as they await the winners list from among a line of recent hit releases. Earlier in January, the BAFTA nominees were revealed with fan-favorite films like Emilia Perez, Conclave, Dune: Part 2, and The Brutalist making the cut in various categories.

The event is set to premiere on February 16, 2025 and Royal Festival Hall, London is the chosen venue. However, viewers will be able to stream the ceremony on Britbox as broadcast commences at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT.

U.K. audience will be able to stream it on BBC One as well as iPlayer.


How to watch the BAFTA Awards in the US?

Viewers from the United States can access live coverage of the event through Britbox which is a streaming media taking care of film-related content in the United Kingdom.

Per Variety, BAFTA will reportedly start screening at 2 p.m. ET which corresponds to 11 a.m. Pacific Time. Moreover, if you do not want to miss glimpses of the red carpet, keep your devices set sharp at 12:45 p.m. Eastern Time/9:45 a.m. Pacific Time.

Per Variety, David Tennant (known for his work in Doctor Who and Broadchurch) will host the 78th BAFTA Awards which is scheduled to be held at the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, London. However, if you are streaming the event from the United States and do not have a Britbox subscription, you can get a one-week free trial window following which, it will cost $8.99/month.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, an add-on subscription option is also available for Prime Video users. But for new users, the pack gets renewed after 30 days and cancelation options are also available. Devices like Apple TV 4K and Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K support Britbox streaming. Moreover, BBC iPlayer can be accessed through ExpressVPN which is a legal method of going on web servers across the United States.


BAFTA, which is also known as the British Academy Film Awards, is an annual event that provides a platform for recognition of films that outperform on an international level. The first edition of the event was held on May 29, 1949, and venues have changed numerous times over the years.

The 2025 BAFTA Awards promise to bring to the spotlight yet another series of blockbuster movies with hits like Conclave, Emilia Perez, and the Bob Dylan musical, A Complete Unknown, leading in the Adapted Screenplay category. On the other hand, box-office biggies Anora, Dune: Part 2, and The Brutalist are some mentionable names in the best direction list.
