Prime Video's Invincible returned for season 3 on February 6, 2025, by premiering the first three episodes together. One of the most popular comic book superhero series, it is based on the comic book series of the same name that ran between 2003 and 2018. On February 11, 2025, Robert Kirkman, the creator of the comics was interviewed by DiscussingFilm.
In that interview, Kirkman revealed the one actor he wishes would join Invincible already: Bryan Cranston. Furthermore, Kirkman revealed a funny tradition in which he and his team contacted Cranston for a role in three seasons of voice role and Cranston turned it down repeatedly. While everyone knows Cranston for Breaking Bad, the actor has a distinguished career in animation, including Kung Fu Panda 3 and 4.
Invincible creator Robert Kirkman's comments explained:
In the 2025 DiscussingFilm interview, Kirkman said that he and the Invincible team have been trying to rope in Breaking Bad's Walter White to voice a character in the Prime video animated series for all three seasons. However, the actor turned down the role all three times. Here is what Robert Kirkman said about Cranston turning down the role:
“Sometimes an actor is brought up for a role, and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, never in a million years would have I thought of that.’ That’s when it’s really exciting. As far as dream casting goes, I think we offer Bryan Cranston a role every season. That has become our tradition, and his tradition is that he turns us down (laughs). But we’re coming for you again, Bryan, and we’ll see what happens next time. Fingers crossed! Literally, Bryan Cranston is the only actor that has turned us down.”
While this will be disappointing for fans of the animated series, it is worth pointing out Cranston's busy work schedule. He will be seen in Apple TV+'s The Studio and Disney's Malcolm in the Middle revival. Also, just because he turned down Invincible three times doesn't mean he will continue to do so forever. Maybe he'll join the series sometime in the future.
What has been happening with Invincible Season 3?
Looks like Mark will be dealing with the repercussions of killing Angstrom Levy in the season 2 finale. In addition, Mark also has taken a new responsibility, that of training his half-brother Oliver. Things get even more complicated as Levy is still alive. The synopsis for the ongoing season reads:
"Everything changes as Mark is forced to face his past and his future, while discovering how much further he'll need to go to protect the people he loves."
Are you hopeful that Bryan Cranston will join Invincible sometime in the near future? Let us know. Meanwhile, you can catch the first three episodes of the ongoing season on Prime Video.
