The Emmy-nominated show Hacks is tentatively set to return with Season 4 sometime in May 2025. News of the show's renewal arrived the same day Season 3 of Hacks' finale episode dropped. In an official statement, Max Original Programming Head, Sarah Aubrey recently announced the renewal.
After praising the creative team of Hacks she declared,
" We couldn't be happier to give viewers another season with Deborah, Ava, and the rest of the Hacks family."
Hacks is a comedy-drama show based on the lives of two comedians in different spectrums of their lives - Deborah Vance (played by Jean Smart) and Ava Daniels (played by Hannah Einbinder). Deb is a veteran in comedy who risked losing her contract with an esteemed casino.
Her protege Ava is a budding comedy writer in need of a job. At the crossroads of their lives, Ava and Deb join hands on a journey to personify their art with each other's help. The duo has gone through tumultuous twists and turns but still stood up for each other.

How many episodes will Hacks season 4 have?
Speaking to Variety's Awards Circuit Podcast, Hacks' co-creator Lucia Aniello dished the number of episodes Season 4 of the show is set to have. Aniello insinuates that given the content and the storyline in play, the show will have slightly more than usual episodes.
She revealed,
" We're going to be doing ten episodes, because we're feeling like there's just so much to say and do."
As confirmed by Aniello, Hacks Season 4 is set to have 10 episodes filled with the aftermath of Season 3. With a bombshell finale episode in Season 3, one can expect a more thrilling new season.
What is the plot for Hacks Season 4?
Season 4 of Hacks will pick up where it left off in Season 3 of the HBO Max show: Ava coyly manipulates Deborah to grant her the Head Writer position on her Late Night show. What started as a wholesome relationship between a mentor and mentee, turned into a bitter rivalry.
The official plot is yet to be announced, however, viewers and fans do have an inkling of what's to come. Although Ava eventually got what she wanted, Season 4 will revolve around the changed dynamic between the two.
As Deborah navigates the nuances of her new show, Ava will also be entering new territory as a head writer. Furthermore, with Deborah hiding a scandalous secret, it's only about time before it comes to light.
Speaking to the aforementioned publication co-creator Jen Statsky subtly commented on the upcoming season saying,
"What we're setting up is that Deborah is now on the biggest stage of her career...."
He continued to highlight the newfound differences between her and Ava while recalling the finale. Statsky mentioned,
"Now she's at odds with her closest collaborator - and closest friend, to be honest - because she has betrayed her."
