The much-awaited Alien spin-off series Alien: Earth is fast approaching, and ahead of its release, a new teaser has been shared. This new project serves as the prequel to Ridley Scott's 1979 film, which was set on Earth in the year 2120 before Ellen Ripley’s first encounter with the deadly Xenomorphs.

However, Alien: Earth won't exactly follow the same pattern. Instead, it will bring the terrifying creatures to Earth for the first time, making it a unique entry in the franchise. It will follow a mysterious spaceship crash-landing on Earth, which leads to dangerous events.

At the center of the upcoming FX TV series is a young woman and a group of soldiers responding to the crash and eventually facing an existential threat unlike anything humanity has ever encountered. At the same time, Alien: Earth will dive into the growing influence of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation.

However, with a twist— the TV series will introduce viewers to competing corporations that are thrust into developing the most advanced artificial lifeforms (synths). The newly released teaser shows how technology is being used in the story, igniting curiosity among fans.

FX released another teaser for its Alien: Earth prequel series

After watching the newly released teaser for Alien: Earth, many fans would recall that cats have a small but memorable connection to the Alien franchise, especially in the original 1979 film. It introduced viewers to Jonesy aka Jones, the pet cat aboard the Nostromo spaceship.

What's unique about the cst in the original film is that the animal not only belongs to Ellen Ripley but also serves as the companion to the crew. Similarly, in the new teaser, we can see an adorable cat with a camera placed on it.

Additionally, the cat in the 1979 film was one of the few survivors whose life was spared by the Xenomorph and was later rescued by Ripley. It would be intriguing to watch the cat survive in the prequel series as well, as this is what a user expressed on X (formerly Twitter):

"The best part about Alien films is how the cats survive. If the cats stop surviving, I will stop being a fan of the franchise. LET IT BE KNOWN NOW."

As for the release date, FX has only shared that the series will come out in the summer of 2025, which is fast approaching. The star-studded cast of the prequel series includes Timothy Olyphant, Sydney Chandler, David Rysdahl, Essie Davis, and more.
