During the series premiere of The Braxtons on August 9, 2024, Toni Braxton revealed her recent health scare and how she shared it with her family. Toni revealed the news to her sisters Trima, Tamar, and Towanda, as well as her mother, Dr. Evelyn Braxton.
After Toni was notified by the doctors about her current heart condition and how she might need to have a bypass surgery, the star revealed:
"I had to have a stint put in my heart, which was extremely scary."
She was quite hesitant about opening up to her family members. It was because of her sister, Traci, who died of esophageal cancer two years ago, whom Toni described as a guardian angel. That was the reason that Toni didn’t want to scare her family by revealing her heart condition.
So, instead of directly sharing such huge health-related news, Toni gathered her family members and then shared it with them. Toni shared that she nearly had a "widowmaker heart attack," which causes the blockage of the biggest artery in the heart.

Toni Braxton, 56, is a popular singer and actress who recently, during the premiere of The Braxtons, shared how she told her family members about her near-death heart attack.
Toni’s sister, Trina, 49, shed more light on the incident where Toni shared her health-related news with her family over dinner. Trina revealed that “in true Toni fashion,” her sister Toni asked the family members to join her for dinner and that she had something to share with all of them.
However, when The Braxtons star mentioned that “she wanted to talk," her voice was melancholy, which is why Trina was worried about Toni. Her family members added that Toni had been a “recluse” about sharing her feelings.
On the premiere night, Toni shared that she knew she would have to tell her sisters and mother about her health scare. But because of what happened with her sister Traci, she thought they might also be worried about Toni.
During their dinner, Toni finally opened up to her family and shared the latest developments regarding her health issue. Toni shared that she was suffering from "a type of heart attack" during which she had a "full blockage" in her heart's biggest artery.
Before the condition progressed any further, the doctors at the Cleveland Clinic diagnosed Toni. Also, there was a possibility that if Toni had a heart attack then; she wouldn't have survived it, and she wouldn't be there.
While she got emotional, Toni continued and told her family members that her sister Traci was the guardian angel who saved Toni because according to her doctors:
"They told me your sister was watching over you because they right, you should be dead today. You should not be alive." shared Toni.
The Braxtons star, Toni, also shared that she will need a bypass surgery even though she already had a stint in her heart. She also shared more about how she had been having “crazy anxiety” and that she was worried about her sons Denim and Diezel Braxton-Lewis.
