The Righteous Gemstones never fails to amaze the audience with its quirky storyline and eccentric characters. The HBO black comedy series, which revolves around a dysfunctional family of televangelists, is going to air its fourth and final season soon.
The trailer of the upcoming installment left fans surprised as Benjamin Jason Barnes, aka BJ, was seen doing stunts while pole dancing in front of an audience. Actor Tim Baltz, who plays the role, has revealed that he did the stunts himself after rigorous training for the pole dancing scenes.
In an interview with Variety, Baltz said he was mentored by Tanya Christopher, who is considered an Olympic-level coach:
“I was essentially getting trained by the Olympic coach if pole dancing were to get in the Olympics, and she was incredible.”

Talking about how he underwent extensive training to prepare for the pole dancing and stunts scenes in The Righteous Gemstones Season 4, Tim Baltz said:
“I did most of my own stunts. I would go probably three times a week, and I’d train for about two-and-a-half hours each time. And then once I got the routine down, I would go every other day, and I would just do it three times. So for an hour.”
The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 trailer showcases BJ not just dancing on a pole, but also hanging from it upside down. Meanwhile, he is encouraged by his wife, Judy Gemstone. Baltz added that ahead of the training, he was told by the show’s executive producer to start doing Pilates to increase his core strength.
The hard work seems to have paid off as BJ looks effortless doing the pole dancing stunts in The Righteous Gemstones Season 4, and has been receiving praise from the audience ever since the release of the trailer.
Baltz has been associated with the series since its inception, playing BJ. The character is known for his antics and often gets teased by his wife’s televangelist family since he was brought up in a liberal atheist household. Though he is sometimes scared of Judy, he loves her deeply.
