"It was such a cool, epic elimination. My forearms locked up, and I knew I wasn't doing good, and I'm like, "Well, maybe if I do a front flip, it's going to look cool." So I did my front flip, but I think my strategy was all wrong. Derrick's perfect for Pole Wrestle," shared Mark Long.

The second episode of The Challenge 40 aired on August 21, 2024, which featured eight challengers' elimination. Among those who went home, one of the competitors was Mark Long. After losing the first challenge, Mark was sent to the elimination round of Era 1, where his good friend Derrick Kosinski volunteered to compete against him.
Through the random draw, the challenge was Pole Wrestling, which Derrick is a pro at. When Mark was asked how it felt to compete against Derrick during his interview, Mark revealed that he knew things were not good for him as soon as he felt his forearms locking up.
However, he thought of doing a front flip; it would "look cool," so he did it. His strategy failed, and Derrick, being "so compact" and "like a dog", while Mark, being "tall and lanky", felt a disadvantage during the challenge.
Mark then joked that,
"His tombstone should read "Derrick Kosinski, Pole Wrestle Champ King."
Sharing more about the challenge, Mark said he was happy that Derrick gave a "nice sendoff." He also mentioned that the episode didn’t show the part where everyone was gracious and thanked Mark at the time of his elimination.
"Guys, this ain't a funeral. I'm just leaving for now. You young bastards up there, you will see me again, and it's going to be a lot different next time," Mark replied.
The Challenge 40 star also mentioned feeling both his forearms "cramping up" and thought he was dehydrated during the challenge.
