The Challenge 40 finalist Tori recently appeared on the Johnny Bananas podcast, where she shared that she doesn't take hate comments and negativity personally. Johnny Bananas, the host of the Death, Taxes, and Bananas podcast, also shared his views on the situation.
Johnny mentioned that many participants have received "a lot of" criticism. However, he didn't understand why Tori was getting it.
"I don't think you've ever not been who you are. I don't think you've ever not been an authentic player. i think you have done amazing things for the game, and you've had this again, this evolution over the seasons, and you've pretty much become like the female face of the show over the last few seasons."
He added:
"So it's like, I just don't get like the negativity and the animosity and the hate towards you unless its because of that unless its stemming from envy and jealousy."
The Challenge 40 finalist Johnny Bananas defends Tori Deal against hate comments and negative criticism
The Challenge 40 star Johnny Bananas chimed in on why fans and "certain people" feel "that way" and that he didn't understand:
"The venom and the criticism from certain people and, like fans especially, that comes your way when I'm like, "She's never really done anything. She, I think you're a very real person, and I think that's what, a lot of times, fans have problems with authenticity."
Responding to that, Tori Deal said she doesn't take such comments and hate "personally anymore." The finalist mentioned that the reality show The Challenge was a "tiny little pond." She then discussed how singer Taylor Swift has also received "hate."
"Let's think about like real celebrities look at the hate Taylor Swift gets. It's like what the f*ck did Taylor Swift do, like the girl donates half her money to, from tours, she gives everyone major Christmas bonuses, like she truly is a genuinly good person and she gets destroyed by people."
Tori further mentioned that it was just "the nature of humans," so she would not take such things "personally."
The Challenge 40 finalist also expressed her happiness at learning about such hatred early on.
"Imagine going my whole life like The Challenge exposes us to this and now we have to decide are we going to like die by their criticizm? Are we going to live by the compliments? I'm going to do neither."
Talking more about handling criticism and negative comments, the female participant shared that she "floats" between hatred and compliments. She also mentioned that whenever "that chapter" of her life was "closed," she would take all the lessons that she had learned, and it would "just be good" for her.
Tori added that it made her "stronger" as a person. Later on the podcast, Johnny Bananas asked Tori various fan questions and discussed other aspects of The Challenge 40.
MTV will premiere the highly-anticipated The Challenge 40 Finale episode on January 1, 2025.
