Emilia Clarke continues to make strides in her acting career as she recently bagged the lead role in Peacock's Ponies. The Game of Thrones alumnus is reportedly set to return to screens as the protagonist 'Bea' in the upcoming spy drama, according to Variety.

Clarke is renowned for playing the fearless Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones—a hit American fantasy drama. In the series, she portrayed the Mother of Dragons, earning a positive response from viewers. Since then, she has indeed come a long way.

In Peacock's Ponies, Clarke will embody the role of a highly intellectual and knowledgeable secretary—an immigrant daughter of Russian heritage. Clarke has appeared in similar roles including the upcoming MCU series Secret Invasion.

However, given Clarke's ability to embody different personalities effortlessly, Ponies is set to stun viewers after it premieres. Susanna Fogel, the creator of The Flight Attendant, has teamed up with David Iserson to executively produce Ponies.

Clarke herself will be joining Fogel and Iserson to co-produce the show. Additionally, Universal Television and Pacesetter Productions will also play a major hand in producing Ponies.

What is the plot of Ponies?

According to the official description given by Peacock, Ponies is based on two polar opposite secretaries—Bea (Clarke) and Twila (role yet to be announced) employed at the American Embassy. Their lives were in perfect tandem with their career, until the tragic death of their husbands.

Apart from their husbands' deaths related to the USSR, the wives received no other cause of death, leaving them both furious. As a means to cope with the death and uncover the truth, the two proceed to become CIA agents.

Set in Moscow in 1977, the two grapple with some intense situations. Their primary objective is to unravel the truth behind their lovers' deaths. However, they also become entangled in a web of mysterious secrets from the Cold War.
