"Dumbest and most boring" — The Challenge 40 fans slam finale Part 1

Season 40 of The Challenge was never a top pick for fans of the long-running show, and Part 1 of the finale, which saw a January 1, 2025 release on MTV, has left viewers underwhelmed. The first of a two-day finale saw eight finalists participate in three challenges, while there is more in store for the contestants in Part 2, or the grand finale, on January 2, 2025, at 8 pm.

After Cara Maria went home in a swimming challenge of the final elimination earlier, the producers decided to send all eight finalists into the sea again, not once but for three challenges of the finale Part 1. Among the eight, Jordan constantly remained on the top of the leaderboard while Kyland, a weak swimmer, couldn't keep up with other contenders.

Fans of The Challenge Season 40 were eagerly waiting for the finale, and Part 1 left almost all fans disappointment. The episodes involved three swimming challenges and an overnight challenge where the finalists had to count coins and sing Show me the way to go home for 30 minutes. Netizens took it to social media and expressed their feelings.

"This is the dumbest and most boring final ever #TheChallenge," wrote a fan on social media.

#TheChallenge40 not a huge fan of the final only being swimming. Seems a little unfair for some imo, another admirer posted.

I think a final with 90% of it being in an ocean is boring. Because swimming isn’t most people’s strong suit so after a while it’s boring. #TheChallenge40, read another post on X.

A few fans expressed their disapproval over the finalists being given karma points by show host TJ, from the eliminated contestants.
