Below Deck Down Under has hit the small screens with a brand-new season on Monday. Captain Jason Chambers is running the largest yacht of the franchise, Katina with a revamped crew, although, restoring a few positions like Chief Chef and Deckhand. Sailing in the East African country Seychelles, the new season will bring the new drama and unfold the new dynamics of the crew.
Season 3 has revamped a few rules as well, especially after the alleged sexual assault incident that happened in the previous season. To counter any such unfortunate event, producers have adhered to strict safety measures, and Captain Jason Chambers joined Entertainment Weekly to throw light on the enhanced protocols for this season.
He opened up about the "policies and procedures that they had already in place and [were] used, adding, "We've seen them use it by helping out with stepping in." Going into the specifics, he pointed out that the season will involve less of a drinking rituals and remarked:
"I don't know if I can say this, but there was a massive drop in alcohol intake. It's always been the policy of production and Bravo that the crew go out and be adults and pay for their own drinks. That's fine. However, we monitor that."
Below Deck Down Under Season 3 will curtail the entertainment quotient despite the enhanced protocols
In case fans are worried about the entertainment quotient getting curtailed, Captain Jason Chambers has made it clear that it won't be the case. During his interview with Entertainment Weekly, he assured that the enhanced protocols do not mean that the "drama" will be less.
Chambers mentioned that the season is loaded with "on-camera drama", keeping in check that they get off the boat safely and can serve the guests effectively. He also chimed in on his views regarding the overstepping behavior of First Hand Garry King in the latest season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. However, he pointed fingers at Garry for not taking accountability for his act.
For those unversed, Captain Glenn Shephard allowed a few crew members to join the guests on-shore for just "2 drinks," but First Hand Garry almost chucked 10 drinks.
Below Deck Down Under Captain sided with Captain Glenn and said:
"Glenn had given him ample opportunity to be an adult, and Gary actually blew that. If he was with me, he probably wouldn't have a job.
Below Deck Down Under premiered on February 3, 2025, on Bravo at 8 pm ET/PT.
