She started her musical journey in 1996 as an understudy to Audra McDonald, playing the role of Sarah in a Toronto production of Ragtime. A year later, she bagged the role of Nala in a Broadway production of The Lion King.
Headley soon started writing her own songs and released her own album, "This Is Who I Am," in 2002. The album was special for her in more ways than one, as it won her her first Grammy Award, adding more feathers to her cap.
Heather Headley has since appeared in many musical productions and even released her own music albums.
