While the most beloved character deaths in The White Lotus Season 3 finale were somewhat predictable, fans did not see Natasha Rothwell's Belinda going full Tanya McQuid from Season 1 on her new lover, Pornchai.
The Season 3 finale saw Belinda accepting the hefty amount offered by Greg and leaving Thailand (and Pornchai) with her son Zion. But Rothwell, who reprised her role from Season 1, defended her character's actions in the finale in an interview with Variety:
''I didn’t want to play that moment with guilt.''
Rothwell discussed how Belinda's situation with Pornchai in The White Lotus Season 3 was different from her relationship with Tanya back in Season 1:
''If people rewatch this season, she never agrees to go into business with Pornchai; she’s just considering it. Which I think is a subtle but massive difference from Season 1, where you have Tanya being like, “Yes, let’s do it. Give me the papers. Show me your business plan.” She doesn’t lead him on.''
Belinda was offered a business deal by wealthy businesswoman Tanya back in Season 1. But after Tanya finds love in Gary at the hotel, she eventually leaves with him, leaving Belinda and her promise behind.

Natasha Rothwell opens up on Belinda betraying Pornchai in The White Lotus Season 3 finale
After Belinda accepts Greg's $5 million in return for keeping her mouth shut about Greg's involvement in Tanya's murder, she leaves Pornchai and Thailand behind with her son Zion.
Many fans saw it as Belinda's betrayal because earlier, Pornchai expressed his feelings for her while also suggesting that they do business together.
But Rothwell does not see it as a betrayal on Belinda's part because she never approached Pornchai in the first place, and she was only considering his offer (via Variety):
''Pornchai was definitely more into Belinda and the idea than Belinda was. They both really liked each other and had feelings for each other, sexually and relationship-wise, but professionally, I don’t think Belinda was all in, because it’s impractical.''
She added that Belinda's decision not to start a business or relationship with Pornchai has more to do with herself and less with Pornchai. After being let down by others, she finally took a decision for herself, which is bound to not sit right with many:
''When you make a decision that’s best for you, it can be hard when someone else is not benefiting from it or is hurt by it, but it’s absolutely okay and necessary to make decisions that are in your own best interest.''
