Adolescence is a four-part miniseries on Netflix that has been making all the noise since release, and rightfully so! Adolescence is created by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, with Philip Barantini serving as director. The Netflix show focuses on the trials and tribulations of Stephen Graham's Eddie Miller, whose teenage son, Jamie, played brilliantly by newcomer Owen Cooper, is arrested for killing a classmate named Katie.

However, Stephen Graham isn't the only prominent star to be associated with Adolescence. The end credits of the show state that Hollywood A-lister Brad Pitt has served as an executive producer. Pitt's company Plan B Entertainment has co-produced the show alongside Matriarch Productions and Warp Films. In the past, Plan B Entertainment has been associated with such titles as 12 Years A Slave and The Departed.

According to Hello!, Barantini said:

"Brad was on the phone with us, and he was so enthusiastic."

Here's everything that we know about Brad Pitt's involvement.

Philip Barantini opens up about the genesis of Adolescence

Barantini recently revealed that the idea behind such a hard-hitting show was derived from contemporary reality. He explained to Tudum:

"There was an incident where a young boy (allegedly) stabbed a girl. It shocked me. I was thinking, ‘What’s going on? What’s happening in society where a boy stabs a girl to death? What's the inciting incident here?’ And then it happened again, and it happened again, and it happened again. I really just wanted to shine a light on it and ask, 'Why is this happening today? What’s going on? How have we come to this?'"

Stephen Graham speaks about Adolescence

In a recent interview with GQ, Stephen Graham revealed how the idea came into existence, saying:

"For me, there was a spate up and down the country of young boys who had stabbed young girls. It's a different kind of thing, in many ways, because with the gang-on-gang violence of young boys stabbing young boys in London, Birmingham and Manchester, it's horrific, and there's something in our society that we need to address and look at… But for me, the other thing was, What's really going on here now, when young boys are stabbing young girls to death?"

He added:

"I had an idea for all of these four episodes, and how they may look, but basically, me and Jack became Frankenstein. I brought the body parts to Jack, then he created a spirit, and together we worked on the soul. Because I just had an idea and faceless characters. And Jack came up with the whole incel stuff. I said, Look, I know about the radicalisation online, but I don't get it, I don't understand it. And Jack did all his research for that."

Adolescence is exclusively available on Netflix.
