Season 15 of BBC's Doctor Who has been brewing for a while as fans anticipate the next chapter in the doctor's life after the tremendous success of the first season. The teaser for the show, which dropped on Christmas, dropped hints on what the new season is about as Ncuti Gatwa returns as the Doctor.
However, excited fans have a brand new detail on the show as its release date has been accidentally revealed by the BBC in a promo that aired live, which showed the teaser trailer that was revealed on Christmas, along with a release date of April 12, 2025.
The Direct has further confirmed that the promo did, in fact go live. It's uncertain if it was an honest mistake on the broadcaster's end or a well-thought-out way of dropping the big news. Nevertheless, the release date for Doctor Who Season 15 is sooner than what fans expected and with less than two months to go for it's premiere, here' everything we know about the show so far.
Everything we know about Doctor Who Season 15
Showrunner Russell T. Davies has previously teased the premise of the show while he sat down for a chat with Radio Times where he described Doctor Who Season 15 as sensational and teased fans that the show is coming forth sooner than fans think (which is confirmed now!).
"It's coming... it's sensational. There are a lot of scares, there's a planet in the far future that's absolutely terrifying, there's a trip to Miami, it's very, very, very good, and it's coming sooner than you think."
As for the cast, Varada Sethu, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Millie Gibson, Michelle Greenidge, Anita Dobson and Jemma Redgrave will be seen on the show.
While we await information on any new additions to the cast, BBC has just announced Christopher Chung to have joined the cast. Speaking of this new addition, Davies said,
"I was so excited to get Chris involved. He brings all of his strength and style and talent to one of the darkest, toughest episodes we’ve ever made. As for whether Cassio is an ally or an enemy of the Doctor, you’ll have to wait and see, but I can promise, it’s one hell of a meeting!”
The excitement is shared by Chung, who made a statement and teased the adventure and madness that the new season of Doctor Who awaits, as he stated,
“I’m absolutely thrilled to step into the Whoniverse as Cassio for Season 2! This show is legendary, and getting to be part of this new era feels surreal. Working with Russell and Ncuti has been a dream! This episode is huge - packed with everything Who fans love: heart, adventure, and a touch of madness. I can’t wait for everyone to see what’s in store - it’s going to be iconic. Get ready!”
