Dexter: Resurrection, the upcoming series in Showtime’s Dexter franchise, has had an exciting addition to the cast. Krysten Ritter, known for portraying Jane Margolis on AMC’s Breaking Bad, has joined the series.

Apart from Breaking Bad, the actress is known for playing the titular role in Marvel’s Jessica Jones. Dexter: Resurrection marks the fourth series in the franchise and serves as a direct sequel to Dexter: New Blood, which came out in 2021.

The show brings back Michael C. Hall as the titular serial killer, along with a few other cast members from the original series, which aired on Showtime from 2006 to 2013. Meanwhile, Peter Dinklage and Uma Thurman have also been confirmed to star in the sequel series.

Krysten Ritter to guest star in Dexter: Resurrection

Krysten Ritter will play a character named Mia in Dexter: Resurrection. Showtime has not revealed any details about the character, and it remains to be seen if Mia turns out to be a victim or an ally of Dexter Morgan.

Ritter will be seen in the show in a guest capacity, but her character is expected to be an important part of the narrative, considering the actress’ stature. Ritter played Jesse Pinkman’s girlfriend, Jane Margolis, in Breaking Bad.

Though her role was short-lived, it was impactful, and the actress was able to leave a mark on the audience. She later played main roles in shows like Jessica Jones, The Defenders, Gravity, and Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23.

Dexter: Resurrection is a continuation of Showtime’s Dexter, which follows the titular serial killer who targets dangerous criminals. Michael C. Hall is reprising his role as Dexter Morgan in the sequel series, along with James Remar as Harry Morgan, David Zayas as Angel Batista, and Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan.

The new additions to the cast include Uma Thurman as Charley and Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater. Meanwhile, franchise veteran Jennifer Carpenter has confirmed that she won’t be reprising her role as Debra Morgan in the upcoming series.

The show follows up on the events of Dexter: New Blood, in which the serial killer was shot and injured by his son, Harrison, and had a near-death experience. The filming for the project began in January 2025, and the series is expected to premiere on Paramount+ with Showtime in the summer of this year.

Meanwhile, a prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, recently finished airing on Paramount+ with Showtime. The show revolves around a young Dexter Morgan and chronicles his transformation from a forensic expert into a serial killer.
