Matt Murdock is all set to make a comeback with Daredevil: Born Again, but the first season might have fewer episodes than what the fans had once expected.

The new Disney+ series marks the return of this vigilante after the original Netflix series ended nearly 7 years ago. Considering the amount of fanfare surrounding Daredevil: Born Again, it wouldn't have seemed fair to end it with its first season. Fortunately, it is returning for a second season, according to what actor Charlie Cox said during his appearance on Good Morning America.

"The cast and myself were on the stage at D23 in Anaheim in front of 12,000 people and Kevin Feige announced we were doing season 2. That's how we all found out. We walked off stage and were like, 'Great, I guess we're coming back!'"

The initial reports suggested that there would be almost 18 episodes in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again. However, there has been a change of plans according to showrunner Dario Scardapane and the show's executive producer, Sana Amanat.

"At this point, it will be a nine-episode first season. We start shooting an eight-episode second season on Friday, and the future is unwritten. I don't know if the story necessarily ends at the end of the second season. I think the future'sunwritten."

Scardapane and Amanat shared this update during their interview with Collider.

Although the first Season of Daredevil: Born Again would be shorter, the fans can seek relief from the fact that the show would return for another season. There is another reason to be excited for the second season since Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, the directing duo behind the first season, will also return for the second one, according to series producer Brad Winderbaum.

When speaking about the stylistic contribution of these "tonal masters," Winderbaum said,

"The way they tell a story, they know how to pull the levers of drama and tension especially, like no one else. Hopefully, you remember, in Loki Season 2, I always talk about this shot on their way to the cosmic loom, and it’s a shot of a door, and it just sustains and just builds this enormous amount of tension."

He further added,

"That is something that I think is emblematic of the way they work and how they direct. Certainly, they move around the audiences’ eye and attention on screen in a phenomenal way...they're amazing. I would work with them forever if I could."

Until the show returns, Daredevil fans can take a leaf from the online discussions about the episode runtimes for the upcoming first Season.
