Apart from being critically acclaimed, Daredevil: Born Again has been pulling in strong numbers at Disney+ as well. It was recently revealed that the first two episodes of Born Again were streamed on the over-the-top platform on March 4, 2025, and drew in approximately 7.5 million views in five days since they began streaming on Disney+.
This makes Daredevil: Born Again one of the successful Disney+ Marvel series. The previous show to hold the record was the MCU show "Agatha All Along," which attracted approximately 9.3 million views within a week of its release on September 18, 2024. It isn't a surprise, though considering Born Again has an in-built fanbase of the decade-old original Netflix series.
What do Daredevil: Born Again's record-breaking viewing numbers on Disney+ mean?
Daredevil: Born Again's 7.5 million views in the first five days of streaming makes it one of Disney+'s biggest streaming debuts. In today's streaming era, a view is calculated by dividing the streaming time by the duration of the series. Calculating views helps streamers determine whether a series has generated interest amongst the masses or not. As seen in Born Again's case, it certainly has generated interest.
This interest amongst fans is surprising, considering the "divisive" moment in the opening moments of the first episode.
What happens in the first episode of Daredevil: Born Again?
The first episode of Born Again, "Heaven's Half Hour," opens on a rather happier note as Matt, Foggy, and Karen are heading toward Josie's Bar. They are going to the bar to celebrate Police Officer Cherry's retirement. However, the happy tone of the scene is interrupted by a call on Foggy's phone.
A client has called Foggy because they're being attacked, and Matt, Karen, and Foggy hear some noises over the call. Matt suits up as Daredevil to help the client, but midway, he hears the person over the call saying that someone wanted to get to Foggy. That certain someone is none other than Bullseye, who shoots Foggy and is about to do the same to Karen until Matt intervenes.
This results in the well-established long-take fight scene that was seen in the previous three seasons. As this vicious fight unfolds, Matt hears Foggy's heartbeat slowing down. As the fight goes to the roof, Foggy's heart stops beating, and Matt, in a state of rage, throws Bullseye down to the street, which he survives. Matt quits being the vigilante, and the episode jumps a year later.
Foggy's death has had fans divided. While some are appreciative of how the scene sets up the dark tone of the series, some don't like that Foggy was brought back only to be killed within the first few minutes. But regardless of what one feels, the scene has people discussing it passionately, something Marvel has been missing for a while.
The first two episodes of Daredevil: Born Again are currently streaming on Disney+, and the show will consist of nine episodes.
